A Fun 100-Mile Challenge -Portland Bicycling Club

A Fun 100-Mile Challenge

The best ride of the year! If you’re looking for a challenging but fun way to test your endurance and see some stunning views, the Pioneer Century® with the Portland Bicycling Club might be just what you need. This annual event takes riders on a 100-mile journey through the scenic countryside of western Oregon, with plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow cyclists, enjoy some good food, and push yourself to achieve your goals.

The Pioneer Century® is held every year on the first Saturday in June and is open to cyclists of all skill levels. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran of long-distance cycling or just starting out, you’ll find plenty of support and encouragement from your fellow riders and the organizers of the event.

One of the best things about the Pioneer bike ride, all three route options, is the sense of community it fosters among pedaling enthusiasts. You’ll be riding alongside hundreds of other riders, all of whom share your love of the sport and commitment to achieving goals. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to chat with other cyclists, swap stories, and make new friends.

And of course, no bike ride is complete without some tasty food. The Pioneer event is famous for its well-stocked rest stops, for each route length, which offer a variety of snacks from fresh fruit and energy bars to sandwiches. You’ll be able to refuel and rehydrate at each stop, so you’ll have the energy you need to complete the course you’ve chosen.

Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of the Pioneer Century® is the sense of accomplishment you’ll feel when you cross the finish line. Riding 100 miles in a single day is a significant challenge, and it’s not something that everyone can do. But with the support of your fellow riders and the encouragement of the organizers, you’ll be able to achieve your goal and earn your place as a Pioneer Century® finisher.

If you’re looking for a fun and challenging way to test your endurance on low-traffic rural roads and see some of the most beautiful and iconic landscapes in Oregon, right in Portland’s backyard, including lush farmlands, rolling hills of wine country, and views of Mt. Hood, consider signing up for the Pioneer Century® or the metric century (63 miles) or the half-metric (33 miles) with the Portland Bicycling Club. With its welcoming community, scenic routes, and rest stops designed for cyclists, it’s a rewarding experience you won’t forget.
