Member Appreciation -Portland Bicycling Club

Member Appreciation

Times are tough, but you are tougher! We cyclists loved to stay active on our bicycles with other likeminded individuals on a regular basis. We miss our routine of stopping for coffee and food. For some of us cyclists who are not yet retired, the ‘weekend warrior’ ritual is often extremely rewarding, not to mention stress relieving, but now we have to be more cautious.

Thank you to all members for your patience, fortitude, endurance, and resilience.    Given the current 2020 pandemic, it’s fair to say we’ve all been affected. By now, it’s likely many of us know someone who has tested positive – maybe a friend, a friend of a friend, or a family member. COVID-19 has foiled the best laid plans of many people globally, and far worse, there isn’t a definitive end in sight, yet. Most fundraising events in the NW cycling community have also been impacted by the pandemic. What will 2021 look like? Hopefully, each event will make an even stronger comeback. Please, take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

I’d like to extend a special ‘Thanks’ to PBC member Lynn (Thompson) Blanchard, Quick Releases editor. Lynn brings her talent and expertise to us every month with her clever and fun QR’s. She wears a few hats in our club. Lynn has assisted our board with editing the bylaws and has always been helpful in so many different capacities for our club. She took the leadership and initiative to launch our very own PBC Reach the Beach Bicycling Team. Lynn is always ready to lend a helping hand and assist members to get on our team. The team even exceeded our fundraising goal a while ago. I think the last time I looked we were in seventh place. WOW! Our PBC team is on the front page of RTB fundraising efforts. Please, join our team.

THANK YOU, Lynn. Simply the best! Please take time to thank Lynn the next time you see her (or drop her a note at [email protected]).
