Mid-Year Elections: Thursday, June 6

The call went out last month asking members to consider running for vacant board positions in the upcoming election. A good executive board works well with different perspectives being brought to the discussions, diversity in problem-solving solutions, and willingness to work on a team. Come to the member meeting on June 6 at 7:00 p.m. to run for office and/or to place your vote. The road captain, a one-year term, July 1 – June 30, works with ride leaders and is responsible for maintaining and overseeing the ride calendar. The two member-at-large positions, also a one-year term July 1 – June 30, are perfect spots for any members wanting to get involved at more of an entry level. If you’re somewhat familiar with Robert’s Rules of Order and have experience taking minutes, either from student council or through work, then the recording secretary position could be the ideal fit for you. This is for the balance of the term, July 1 – December 31.  Duties include maintaining a written record of all executive board and general membership club meetings.  Talk to a board member for more information on any of these positions.

The following club members have shown interest in running for the vacancies listed below. Additional nominations will be taken from the floor on election night.

Road Captain (vote for one)

  • Rob Schroeder, Incumbent
  • ____________

Member at Large (vote for two)

  • Stacy Barbadillo, Incumbent
  • Dave McQuery
  • ____________
  • ____________

Recording Secretary (vote for one)

  • Ann Morrow
  • ____________

If you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to contribute your ideas, then now is your chance to participate as we move into the future as the Portland Bicycling Club.

Not quite ready for a board position yet?  The program coordinator position is currently open. The duties are to follow up on leads, to schedule presentations for club member meetings, and to confirm attendance by the presenters. There is already a list of potential topics, so for several months someone has already done much of the legwork. With member meetings not being held in July or August this year, and a presenter already tentatively scheduled for September, there’s plenty of time to plan ahead for fall programs. This is a board-appointed position. Contact Pat McManus, President, [email protected], if interested.
