Reach the Beach Training Series -Portland Bicycling Club

Reach the Beach Training Series

We invite you to participate in the American Lung Association’s Reach the Beach Oregon. We will be conducting training rides from March 2 to May 11. Register for Reach the Beach – Set the Goal! Relish the training routes and have fun with the group. Share past experiences, talk kit, and delight in the occasional coffee stop.

This series offers training to prepare for the century (100 miles) from Sauvie Island to Astoria. The training series begins with 40-mile rides and ramps up in difficulty to 70-mile rides. The online ride calendar includes the RTB training rides, which will be the most current and best source for ride information. A ride can be altered for various reasons; please check the calendar before departing home. Don’t hesitate to contact us; our contact info is also listed there.

Let’s have fun and a successful Reach the Beach experience by putting time in the saddle. Non-Reach-the-Beach rides are also good training. Any ride can be training; it needn’t be labeled “Reach the Beach.” Riders with no plans to participate in RTB are welcome to join us on training rides too.

Note: Salem Bicycle Club sponsors the Monster Cookie Metric Century on April 28, an event you must register for and pay a nominal charge to participate. The distance is a metric century (62 miles) and mostly flat. Highly recommended to:

  • Participate in a group ride – get used to riding with many people.
  • Get used to riding significant distances – see if you are ready.

We look forward to seeing you!
