Monster Cookie Ride -Portland Bicycling Club

Monster Cookie Ride

Salem Bicycle Club puts on the infamous MONSTER COOKIE ride on Sunday, May 7. I want to challenge you all to come out for this metric century (100 kilometers = 62 miles). Wear your club colors – those PBC jerseys or your new red vest or both! – and show the local cyclists that we are still here and strong as ever!

I am the ride leader. The board has approved the ride for club mileage, so it’s an opportunity to give a boost to your 2023 numbers. You can sign in electronically or catch me on the ride or email or text me with your PBC member number and mileage.

Note in our PBC ride description that the ride starts at 8:00 AM. Let’s meet by the porta-potties for a group photo and group start. If you are riding the 31-mile course, you may not want to be starting that early. That’s fine, you do you, and have a great ride. Once we get rolling, it’s “ride your own ride,” and groups will splinter off and either charge ahead with a peloton behind a tandem, or stop for pictures and take life easy, or somewhere in between.

We had a lot of fun last year, and it was a proud day seeing how strong our club is with so many out on this perfect route for strutting our stuff.

If you are planning to ride PIONEER, then this is a great shakedown ride to see where you are physically and test your gear and the machine.

This is the first of several event rides that can earn you some club mileage this year. Let’s support our neighboring Salem Bicycle Club and other such events, celebrate our fellow cyclists, and explore some new territory.

Get signed up in advance. You can pre-order a lunch that will be waiting for you at Champoeg Park. It’s the perfect mid-ride lunch to fuel your trip back to Keizer.
