STP Volunteers Requested

Seattle to Portland, the Pacific Northwest’s largest multi-day bicycling event, is currently scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 18-19, 2020. This is our first call for volunteers. In this uncertain time of Covid-19 health risk worries, keep in mind that everything is subject to change, so stay tuned for updates as they become available.

As you know PBC sets up, runs, and takes down the finish line at Holladay Park. PBC welcomes all finishers to Portland at the finish line announcer’s stage. We help riders safely cross the finish line, receive their congratulatory patches, and enjoy the finish line festivities. We install/(remove) all course signage from the Longview Bridge to the finish line. We restrict traffic around Holladay Park, and place all the required signs warning the public of these closures. We unload and sort riders’ baggage, and help them find and retrieve their belongings. We staff the temporary secure bike corral, and rent out towels at the shower truck. We help load riders on buses, and get their bikes safely blanketed on trucks for the return trip to Seattle. We answer all sorts of questions at the information booth. If there is something to be done, you can bet a PBC or Skyview High School volunteer is tending to it.

Volunteers for STP will receive a colorful tee shirt to identify them as volunteers and a food voucher to redeem at one of the many food vendors. Of course, there is that pizza party the Monday before the long weekend, too.
