STP Training Ride #5: Lacamas Lake Loop (Clark College With Stop at Larson’s Bakery)

Description

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride.
https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/protocols/

You do not need to be a PBC member. This ride is open to anyone who wants to get ready for the next edition of the famous Seattle-to-Portland bike ride, which will be held on July 15-16 this year. On-line signup is available—even to non-members—until 6:00 AM the day of the ride. Go to PBC Ride Calendar to sign up on-line. You will also be able to sign up in person at the start. On-line signup will be available until 6:00 AM on the day of the ride.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for sign-up/check-in. Cue sheets will be available if requested in advance. Light rain is OK, heavy rain will shorten the ride.

Leaves from Clark College off Fort Vancouver Way (Red parking lot near McLaughlin and Fort Vancouver Way) in Vancouver, Wash. Travel east through Vancouver and out around Lacamas Lake. On the way back we will visit a wonderful bakery. This is a good combination of city and rural riding. There is a little climbing--less than 1,000 feet. Distance 33 miles, but there is one short steep hill at about mile 18.

I intend for this to be a group ride, but if some riders want to go faster, I would treat that part as a non-group ride. The faster riders may proceed at their own pace. The first potty stop will be at a small park at approximately mile 14, then a rest and coffee break at Larson’s Bakery.
