STP Training Ride #3: Reverse Kelly Point Two-Bridge Loop

Description

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride.
https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/protocols/

You do not need to be a PBC member. This ride is open to anyone who wants to get ready for the next edition of the famous Seattle-to-Portland bike ride, which will be held on July 15-16 this year. On-line signup is available—even to non-members—until 7:00 AM the day of the ride. Go to PBC Ride Calendar to sign up on-line. You will also be able to sign up in person at the start. On-line signup will be available until 6:00 AM on the day of the ride.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for sign-up/check-in. Cue sheets will be available if requested in advance. Light rain is OK, heavy rain will shorten the ride.

The Portland Bicycling Club has taken this ride many times, but usually in the other direction. We will be stopping for coffee at Cathedral Coffee or near the end of the ride at Samos Bistro at NE 72nd and Prescott. Both Indoor and outdoor seating is available at either stop.

I intend for this to be a group ride, but if some riders want to go faster, I would treat that part as a non-group ride. The faster riders may proceed at their own pace. The route deviates slightly from the RwGPS map provided in that there is a new bridge over the railroad tracks a couple of miles south of Kelley Point. The first potty stop will be at Bybee Lake, unless we need to deviate a few blocks to the new esplanade on the Vancouver Waterfront.
