North Plains – Helvetia – Mountaindale Loop -Portland Bicycling Club

North Plains – Helvetia – Mountaindale Loop

Description

A scenic 22 mile loop in the heart of Washington County farmlands. The terrain is mostly flat with a few rollers & small hills. This is a Non-Group ride but we mostly plan to stay together. Faster riders are welcome to ride ahead and/or do the optional "out & back" side trip on NW Dairy Creek Rd at about mile 18.5. (see ride w/GPS map below; a few paper maps will also be available at the start). Note: the only restrooms are at the start at Jesse Mays Park in North Plains. Unfortunately there are no coffee shops along the route, but the ride leaders plan to drive to nearby Helvetia Tavern for a post-ride lunch.

Ride Update: We just learned that the parking lot for Jesse Mays park in North Plains is currently closed. On Google maps it looks like there is some on-street parking nearby. Another option is to park and wait for the group at West Union Elementary School, which is on West Union Rd at Helvetia Rd about four miles east of the start location.

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride.
