NEW ROUTE-Mt. Saint Helens -Portland Bicycling Club

NEW ROUTE-Mt. Saint Helens

Description

Toutle Lake Elementary School and High School are in the same complex. Meet in the Elementary School parking lot. This is a very scenic ride on good road with generally excellent road shoulders and totally delightful elevation gain. This is your chance to do the Tour de Blast without their schedule forced upon you, without the crowds, and without the fee. Because we’re tough, we don’t need their support, food, water, or restroom breaks. Visitors centers with restrooms, water and some kind of food include the Forest Learning Center at approximately mile 22, and Johnston Ridge. Restrooms and water are available at Coldwater Lake boat ramp at about mile 34. There is an eight dollar fee at Johnston Ridge, if you want to go inside beyond the restrooms and drinking fountains. Bring enough real food (since the visitors centers are quite limited) and water. This is a particularly strenuous ride.
