New Member Ride, Meet and Greet #1

Primarily for new members, but all members and even prospective members are welcome. At least some of the board members will be there. The club will pick up the tab for all members who have joined this year and for all board members who attend. Prospective members? Well, you have to actually join before you get free cookies!

This is a relaxed evening ride out to Panera on Hayden Island, mostly on city streets, then back on the Marine Drive Bike Path to Wilshire Park via Prescott and Going Streets. If you don’t feel like riding, you should feel free to just join us for coffee and pastries. Those who ride will arrive at Panera about 7:00. We encourage you to take this opportunity to meet and socialize with new riding buddies. New members will also learn a little bit about the club’s more than 50-year history as well as how we operate today.

Sunset will be after 8:30, so we should be back well before dark. Nonetheless, we always encourage lights and bright clothing. And of course, bicycle helmets are required.

Please arrive AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY to allow for sign-up/check-in. I intend this to be a group ride, so the pace of the group will be the pace of the slowest rider, but I'd like to move along at about 12-15 miles per hour. Total distance is about 20-22 miles. There are almost no hills on this ride. If faster riders know the route and want to move out ahead, they should feel free. Just don't drink all the coffee, and please leave a cranberry/orange muffin for me.

If you can't make this one, we'll do another, but different, ride on Saturday morning.
