Dixie Mountain Gravel -Portland Bicycling Club

Dixie Mountain Gravel

Description

The local classic! A scenic 32 miles with 2700 feet of climbing, starting from Jessie Mays Community Park in North Plains. This one’s as easy as they’re gonna get with no especially steep climbs and nothing remotely technical. But don’t worry, it’s not easy.

The usual gravel ride precautions apply: This is NOT a road ride. A gravel bike or hardtail mountain bike is a must. I ride with 42c knobbies and often wish for more on some descents. Skilled riders can do it on 35’s. Come with your sense of adventure and everything you need to be self-sufficient in the way of water (bring plenty), food/snacks (bring plenty), tools and spares. You must have the route loaded into your GPS device or phone. We will regroup at the top of big climbs or at major turns if we don’t miss them completely (kidding, sort of). While the pace is listed as moderate it will be challenging. Email me with any questions.

Do not come if you are not vaccinated for COVID-19.

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride. https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/protocols/
