Dinner in Vernonia -Portland Bicycling Club

Dinner in Vernonia

Description

Ride the Banks-Vernonia Trail and have dinner at any of several restaurants in beautiful downtown Vernonia or just pack a SANDWICH. Main stop in Vernonia will be The Black Iron Grill at 831 Bridge Street.
Pace is listed as “slow” due to long climbs on the ride out and again on the way back. Riders can definitely make up some time on the long descent on the way back.
Exercise great care on the descent going IN to Vernonia and BACK to Banks. There are some nasty corners and a few driveways. In addition, the pavement has deteriorated in some places, and most of the bridge approaches are in bad shape.
Regroup at Stub Stewart Park and the Black Iron Grill on the first leg. At Stub Stewart Park on the way back.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for sign-up/check-in. Cue sheets will be available if requested in advance. Contact Dave by phone or e-mail. On line signup is available until 1:00 PM the day of the ride.
Ride is rated "C" because of the 5 mile climb, but it is pretty gradual except in one spot. I can expect to hold 9-10 mph on the hill from Banks to Stub Stewart.

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride.
