Recent Executive Board Activity

“Many hands make light work.” An experienced gandy dancer told me this when I began a college summer job laying track for the Burlington Northern (railroad track is heavy!).  Great advice it was then, and great advice it is now. With this in mind, the board continues to encourage efforts to spread some of our current one-person positions, such as treasurer, among several people to ease the load on any one person. As noted in last month’s update, Richard Rosenberg is leading a committee to recruit more volunteers and to determine how to divide current duties of a position into two or more positions. We encourage you to contact Richard and to consider volunteering.

Ken Norland has announced that the club Bulletin Board is up and running.  You can find information on how to access the BB via this link:  https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/using-the-pbc-forum/

Upcoming elections! Board positions will be up for election at the December club meeting.  Please consider nominating someone, including yourself.  Positions and terms of service can be found here: https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/about/executive-board/

Also, we are seeking nominations by the end of December for awards to be made at the club banquet in early 2027.

The club continued the tradition of  providing free pizza to members who attended the October club meeting. The pizza was delicious. At the meeting, Michael Powell Parich of Oregon Randonneurs explained the workings of his organization. This group sponsors rides of 100 to 600 kilometers over varying terrain.

Lastly, there will be a ride leader workshop on November 19, 2026. Please contact Rob Schroeder or Joel Loh to sign up.  Ride leader information can be found at:  https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/ride-leader-info/
