Awards Banquet: Highlights from 2025

The annual Portland Bicycling Club awards banquet was held on Thursday, February 5, at the recently renovated Monarch ballroom under the new ownership of the Hilton Garden Inn. The revamped setup was large, with plenty of room to accommodate nearly 100 guests. Our newly elected club president, Doug Myers, once again acted as master of ceremonies, with his usual charm, wit, and musical talent. Doug strummed along on his guitar to his original penned lyrics of The Ballad of the Wreck of the Trail Gresham-Fairview to the tune of “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

There were 47 coffee mugs ready to be picked up, representing members with 2,000 or more club miles in 2025, along with club pins for 500 miles or more, and club socks with the PBC logo for ride leaders. Ride leaders who led 12 or more rides also earned a $25 Starbucks gift card. (Note: If you didn’t make it to the banquet, see Bud Rice on one of his rides to collect your loot.) Twenty-three lifetime cumulative mileage plaques were awarded, ranging from the first 10,000 miles to the 310,000-mile plaque for Dick Weber
