NW Hills from NW 21st & Flanders
Description
Ride starts from Ken's Artisan Bakery at NW 21 Ave and Flanders St. Do not drive to the start because parking may be impossible in the immediate neighborhood. Limited free street parking is available in the neighborhood west of NW 25th and north of Lovejoy, or on Cornell just above where it becomes Lovejoy. If you are not biking to the start, take the Blue or Red MAX train to the Providence Park station. Go west one block on Morrison St past Providence Park, turn right on 20th Ave, go three blocks to Flanders St, and turn left.
Eat a big breakfast or come early and enjoy the bakery so that you have plenty of energy to climb. After the first mile, begin a steady four mile climb gaining 1,000 ft of elevation on Cornell and Thompson up to Skyline. After about seven miles on Skyline, begin a long and winding descent on McNamee. Be very careful descending McNamee; the sharpest curves are at the bottom just before US 30! After about six miles on US 30, cross the St John's Bridge, and return via Willamette Blvd, Rosa Parks Way, Vancouver Ave, Broadway Bridge, and Flanders St.
Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride.
