Wow! Oregon! This is a GREAT location! At least for those of you in Oregon. For those of you outside Oregon...Sucks to be you. You have to at least cross the state line.
Why Oregon, you may ask (where does the ? go?). Because Oregon has a unique specifically Thanksgiving place in the history of the United States, I may say. No, not because we slaughter the most turkeys. No, it's not because Tofurky is made here (Have you had Tofurky? It's something everyone should try at least once, like fried grasshoppers or grubs, and just as some love fried grasshoppers and grubs, some like Tofurky. End of product pitch). In 1893 and 1894, thanks to Governor Sylvester Pennoyer making a mistake (twice) and not wanting to fess up to it, Oregon celebrated two Thanksgiving days (the governor's goofed day 1 week before the real day and, of course the real Thanksgiving day). So, Oregon was the uncontested Thanksgiving Capitol of the nation for two years. Yea! If you haven't noticed, you can begin planning your first Thanksgiving day celebration right after the Board meeting because it's on Thursday November 18 (tomorrow). I hope that you are finished with the leftovers for the real Thanksgiving on November 25. Now this really get's the holiday season going!
