STP Training Ride #8: Lacamas Lake Loop (Clark College With Stop at Larson’s Bakery)
Description
You do not need to be a PBC member. This ride is open to anyone who wants to get ready for the next edition of the famous Seattle-to-Portland bike ride, which will be held on July 11-12 this year. On-line signup is required. You will have until 8:00 PM to enter your mileage before I close the ride and post the mileage. We will stay with the 30-40 mile training rides for a while longer. Soon we will be increasing the mileage. This ride has a few hills: a couple of modest climbs, one short but quite steep climb and a really great mile long downhill.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for sign-up/check-in. Cue sheets will be available if requested in advance. Light rain is OK, heavy rain will shorten the ride.
Leaves from Clark College off Fort Vancouver Way (Red parking lot near McLaughlin and Fort Vancouver Way) in Vancouver, Wash. Travel east through Vancouver and out around Lacamas Lake. On the way back we will visit a wonderful bakery. This is a good combination of city and rural riding. Distance 34 miles, but there is one short steep hill at about mile 18.
This is another group ride. No one gets dropped, but please be sure you are in shape for a 34 mile ride with a couple of challenging hills. The first potty stop will be at a small park at approximately mile 14, then a rest and coffee break at Larson’s Bakery.
Pace will be 13-15 mph. That is what I expect to to on paved, level road with no wind.
