STP Training Ride #3: Reverse Kelly Point Two-Bridge Loop
Description
You do not need to be a PBC member. This ride is open to anyone who wants to get ready for the next edition of the famous Seattle-to-Portland bike ride, which will be held on July 11-12 this year. On-line signup is required.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow for late sign-up orcheck-in. Cue sheets will be available if requested in advance. Light rain is OK, heavy rain will shorten the ride.
The Portland Bicycling Club has taken this ride many times, but usually in the other direction. We will be stopping for coffee or lunch near the end of the ride at Samos Bistro at NE 72nd and Prescott. Both Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
I intend for this to be a group ride, but if some riders want to go faster, I would treat that part as a non-group ride. The faster riders may proceed at their own pace. The route deviates slightly from the tradional route in that there is a new bridge over the railroad tracks a couple of miles south of Kelley Point. The first potty stop will be at Bybee Lake, unless we need to deviate a few blocks to the new esplanade on the Vancouver Waterfront.
