First Ride of the Year: Portland City Loop -Portland Bicycling Club

First Ride of the Year: Portland City Loop

Description

Join me for our traditional First Day of the Year ride. We'll start on the west bank of the Willamette River at the Battleship Oregon Memorial, cross at least two of Portland's bridges, and ride on several of Portland’s oldest “Neighborhood Greenways”, e.g., Going and Ankeny Streets. Ride distance may be adjusted based on the weather. Ride groups may be adjusted based on group size. If more than 25, group departures will be staggered to create reasonably sized groups moving at different speeds. A rest stop at a café is not planned so bring a snack and your hot drink in a thermos! We’ll be bicycling over Tilikum Crossing. Starbucks and Flying Elephant will be closed, but the outdoor seating will be in place. I plan on taking a short break there before finishing the ride. Ride is canceled in the event of ice or measurable snow (We’re on if just flurries!).
