Eagle Peak Gravel Ride -Portland Bicycling Club

Eagle Peak Gravel Ride

Description

Please read the Covid protocols before attending the ride. https://portlandbicyclingclub.com/protocols

Do not come if you are not vaccinated for COVID-19.

OMTM’s February Ride Of The Month, Eagle Peak ( http://www.omtm.cc/february-eagle-peak ). This will be the "Standard" version of the route. 5511ft elevation gain, 57% paved, 43% unpaved. Looks like a winner, with the bonus that there are two opportunities to bail out and take the BV trail back to the start.

The usual gravel ride precautions apply: A gravel/cross bike or hardtail mountain bike is a must. I ride knobby 42’s, skilled riders can do it on 35’s. Come with your sense of adventure along with everything you need to be self-sufficient in the way of water (bring plenty), food/snacks (bring plenty), tools and spares. You must have the route loaded into your GPS device or phone - visualize finding yourself alone in the boonies with a flat, Murphy’s Law loves this sort of stuff. We will regroup at the tops of big climbs or at major turns etc. The pace is listed as brisk (but as this is a gravel ride, we won't be averaging 15-17 mph as the road metric indicates) and it will be challenging.

Email me with any questions.
