CZ Trail to Vernonia – Brian Edition
Description
While John is working towards his recovery, let's ride this route of his in his honor. This is a great, but challenging ride for those that are gravel-curious. It is not technical or steep, but is a continuous gradual climb on gravel road/trail for most of the ride out and a delightful descent for much of the way back. No cars (on the gravel) and beautiful shady woods for much of the ride. More challenging route options are available. Lunch at the charming Black Iron Grill cafe in Vernonia before heading back. I’ve seen a skilled rider do this with 28c road tires but you’ll be happiest with “textured” tires that are 32c or bigger. Think mountain bike, CX bike, gravel bike, or commuter/tourer with big tires or knobbies. Meet at the north parking lot. There will be approximately 3,000 feet of climbing. Pace: 13-15 MPH.
