Club Picnic (and rides) -Portland Bicycling Club

Club Picnic (and rides)

Description

The Portland Bicycling Club hopes to hold its annual picnic this year in Vancouver, Washington. The final decision to proceed with the event will be made when it is clear that the resistance to Covid is sufficient to allow a safe and enjoyable gathering without limits on attendance.

Ride routes and paces vary. See ride descriptions below.

9:00 AM Start: Doug Myers will be leading a fun, ride through downtown Vancouver and along the Burnt Bridge Bike Path. It will be about 20 miles, so we should get back before the food and festivities begin. For those riders wishing to not return to the picnic and trying to think of an excuse for bailing from the festivities, the Emergency Use Only cue has been added to the maps. Use this cue only if you wish to spend the rest of your life hopelessly lost and trying to find your way back to the picnic. Group ride. Pace: 15 - 17 MPH.

10:00 AM Start: Ann Morrow lead a family ride. We’ll mostly ride west along the Columbia River perhaps as far as Esther Short Park or the new Waterfront depending on the group. We’ll check out the sites - Old (not so old right now) Apple Tree, Land Bridge, art work and provide an opportunity to get off the bike and climb the look out tower at the old Kaiser Ship Yard. Group ride. Pace will be determined by group - 8 to 12 mph. Level A.
