Carlton Bakery Run -Portland Bicycling Club

Carlton Bakery Run

Description

A beautiful ride through the Yamhill County wine region, stopping halfway at the legendary Carlton Bakery. Not just homemade pastries and macarons, but fresh, locally sourced sandwiches on fresh-baked bread. You'll need the carbs as the second half traverses the rollers north of Newberg before climbing over the Chehalem Mountains and descending into Sherwood for a coffee and water break. Bypassing the Roy Rogers Road construction mess means a couple short hills, but it's worth getting away from traffic and the last 10 miles are flat. We start and finish at the upper parking lot of REI at the Streets of Tanasbourne, Hillsboro. In an effort to save paper, printed maps and cue sheets will NOT be available at the start of the ride. Please print one at home using the PDF provided below and/or download the route into your GPS device using the RideWithGPS link. Pace: 15-17 MPH.
