2019 Heritage Tree Ride – Revisited -Portland Bicycling Club

2019 Heritage Tree Ride – Revisited

Description

Come join us as we revisit the 9 Heritage Trees we visited in April, but this time we'll check out their fall appearance! Heritage Trees are trees that have been formally recognized by Portland City Council for their unique size, age, historical, or horticultural significance. Once accepted by the Council, Heritage Trees are designated with a small plaque and listed in the Heritage Tree database https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/41049. There are over 300 Heritage Trees throughout Portland, and new trees are added each year. Heritage Trees are protected by City Code; once designated, a Heritage Tree cannot be removed without the consent of the Urban Forestry Commission and the Portland City Council. For more information about this program visit Heritage Trees of Portland at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/40280. Our ride will start in Lents park and take us through SE Portland, Woodstock, and Sellwood, with a return via the Springwater Trail and the 205 bike path. We’ll stop at Cartlandia, at 82nd and Springwater Trail, on the return. Heavy rain cancels the ride.
