November 2021 Top Talk

We need to hear from you!

2021 has been a fully operational year for the Portland Bicycling Club, and as is our custom, we are planning an awards ceremony to recognize notable members of our club in January 2022.

What is up for discussion is whether we hold a banquet this year or name off the recipients in a Zoom conference. Judging from the enthusiastic turnout at our club picnic this summer, it is the feeling of the board that many would enjoy an evening together in person. Scheduling a banquet will depend on the number of members willing to attend.

Because we had no income from the STP Finish Line this year, we will be foregoing the random door prizes and the club’s $10 per plate subsidy of the dinners. What you can expect is good food, a no-host bar, and a fun evening with your cycling friends. (You just won’t get to drive to River City to exchange that unneeded headlight or ill-fitting jersey that you won…if you were lucky.)

If the Monarch’s prices are similar to what they were two years ago, the price of the evening would be about $38 apiece, or not much different than a nice restaurant meal without your cycling buddies.

It’s up to you: Banquet or Zoom. Click on this link to let us know your preference:

January will be here before you know!
