Recent Executive Board and Club Activities September 2026)

The Board welcomed Martha Munoz as a new Member at Large.  She replaced Ron Stein, who chose not to run again. 

The Board received reports on STP, which was an overall success. There was a glitch regarding baggage handling: One of the schools contracted to help with baggage did not fulfill its commitment. Richard Rosenberg is following up on this. 

The perennial issues of the club picnic and related club mileage were reported on and discussed. Most of the mileage issues were resolved.  As you all know by now, the picnic was a success.

At the club meetings, a Portland Timbers representative discussed a potential bike night with PBC, but nothing has been finalized. Lindsey Huber and Lauren Burnett of The Street Trust (formerly The Bicycle Transportation Alliance) informed us about the many wonderful programs they have going, and about their organization’s lobbying of the state legislature on bicycle-related issues.

Ken Norland and Mark Hartel are preparing a club bulletin board which will allow members to solicit and exchange ideas on bicycle-related issues. The bulletin board would be limited to club members, and all submissions would be screened by a moderator. The site should be active in the next few months.

The Board also heard reports on and discussed a few club membership issues. At the time of writing some of these issues have not been totally resolved, so they will not be further described here. However, we can note that the Board discussed the issue of which volunteer positions should receive a free club membership. Nothing has been decided about that, and we are open to suggestions. Membership Secretary Dave McQuery reported that we have slightly over 500 members currently.

Lastly, Treasurer Corey Eng advised us that it is time to start looking for a replacement Treasurer. Corey will assist in discussing the duties of Treasurer with prospective candidates.
