PBC Donates Pioneer Excess to Local Food Pantry

For the second year in a row, the Portland Bicycling Club donated unopened leftover food from the Pioneer Century to Love Our City Community Food Pantry in Northeast Portland. Rather than letting good food go to waste, club members helped ensure that these items would benefit local families experiencing food insecurity. Donations included hard-boiled eggs, cheese sticks, deli meats, oranges, Dave’s Killer Bread Snack Bars, chips, etc. Most of this food will be distributed to families the Tuesday after the ride.

Love Our City (loveourcitypdx.com) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit food pantry located in Portland’s Cully neighborhood. The organization provides free weekly food boxes to more than 600 households each month, serving low-income families, seniors, people with disabilities, immigrants and refugees, individuals experiencing homelessness, and others facing difficult circumstances. Each month, the pantry distributes more than 23,000 pounds of food to community members in need.
