Volunteer Opportunity: Club Statistician

If you are looking for a way to help the club, if you are comfortable working with data and computers, and if you enjoy exploring our website, I have the perfect job for you! After a long stint as club statistician, George Ammerman would like to retire. Tracking member participation on club rides is a very important part of the work done by the statistician and, joy of joys, it can be done completely from the comfort of your own home. George has offered to help with the transition. Here is a list of the position’s essential activities:

  1. File electronic copies of sign-in sheets in the club’s Google account (HINT to all ride leaders: this is automated if ride leaders email sign-in sheets directly to [email protected]). This can be done as simply as taking a picture of the sheet with a smart phone and attaching via an email.
  2. Enter mileage by logging in to the club website, selecting a ride sign-in sheet from the Google account, matching to “Posted Rides Without Ride Sheets.” Move down the ride sheet line by line and enter mileage via a dialog box for entering mileage for each rider.
  3. Contact ride leaders about missing ride sheets.

Mark Hartel wrote a Rider Mileage – User Guide that details these procedures. Mark and this document together also serve as excellent resources. George says that it only takes a few times to get the hang of it. Please contact me at [email protected] to let me know of your interest.
