SnowCap December Collection Drive

December’s club meeting will see the return of an annual tradition of collecting donations for SnowCap Community Charities. SnowCap reports an increased need of 92% since 2021 levels. Many families remain in great need as job loss or diminished work hours, continued skyrocketing housing costs, and inflation on most economic fronts have left them still struggling to get back on firm ground in the post-pandemic years.

Donations on SnowCap’s wish list this year include:

  • Canned tuna, chili, hearty stews and soups, canned fruits or vegetables
  • Boxed cake mixes + frosting, brownie or cookie mixes
  • Egg cartons (one-dozen size for redistribution of larger quantities)
  • Grocery-sized paper bags or clean reusable cloth-type bags
  • Oregon return-for-deposit cans or bottles* – rinsed & clean please
  • Clothing: men’s, all sizes; kids’, sizes 5T-16
  • Gently used coats – men’s and kids’ sizes needed most
  • New socks – men’s and kids’ sizes
  • Hats/gloves/scarves
  • Monetary donations: Checks made out to SnowCap, or donations can also be made online at SnowCap.org

*Those return-for-deposit cans really make an incredible difference. When dropping off our cans a couple of months ago, the volunteer said last year those deposits came to $8,000 in donations! What a win-win! No limit to the number of cans to be processed at a time. No waiting at the Bottle Drop. And the 10-cent deposit goes to an exceptionally compelling cause.

As we enter the season of giving, please help another family out by giving if you can. Dave and I will be at the club meeting on DECEMBER 7th to collect donations. As always, thank you for your generosity.
