A Quick Tour of June Events

Strawberry Century, Saturday, June 8, explores low-traffic, country backroads with lots of breathtaking scenery, departs from Lebanon, Oregon, and supports the Santiam Spokes Bicycle Club.  The ride features strawberry shortcake at the finish; and there is a 13-mile family route, $25 for the whole family.  Contact [email protected] for more information.  Approved for Portland Bicycling Club mileage!  Ride leader: Ann Morrow.

Team NPF Cycle in the Willamette Valley, Sunday, June 9, is an annual fundraising ride for the National Psoriasis Foundation beginning and ending at Riverview Park in Independence, Oregon. Contact Brian Willms for details, 503-546-8394 or [email protected].

Columbia Century Challenge, Saturday, June 15, is pleased to offer a fully supported bike ride in Clatskanie with proceeds going toward improving the cycling infrastructure in Columbia County.  For more information, contact 971-225-6090 or [email protected].  Club mileage is approved for this event.  Ride leader:  Ashley Reynolds.

Salem 3-2-1 Bike Ride, (3 Parks, 2 Bridges, 1 Cause), Sunday, June 16, is a family fun ride supporting the Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program.  For details contact Tom Wing, [email protected].

Gorge Ride, Saturday, June 22, sponsored by the Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway, begins at the Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive, in The Dalles, Oregon. Proceeds from this event go toward restoring and preserving the existing drive-able portions of the historic highway to their splendid 1920s appearance, and linking them with pedestrian and bicycle accessible connections, creating a continuous route through the Columbia River Gorge. BRNW Oregon 2019: Time Flies, June 22-29, Bicycle Rides Northwest’s Oregon route explores the highlights of Northwest scenery, winding through national forests, following the contours of wild and scenic rivers, traversing mountain passes, and exploring scenic bikeways and byways alike.  For ride registration and general questions, 503-281-1526 or [email protected].

Salmon Cycling Classic, Saturday, June 29, starting and ending in Wilsonville’s Memorial Park, with a cedar-plank salmon dinner at the finish.  There will be a free family 25K route available if the whole family wants to ride.  Contact Steven Van Wechel, [email protected] or 503-682-5048, with any questions.

Mt. Adams Country Bicycle Tour, Saturday, June 29, is another glorious opportunity to ride the beautiful Mt. Adams countryside, in Trout Lake, Washington.  Options include a family fun ride of 11.3 miles.  Contact [email protected] for additional info on any of four choices of rides.
