Help Wanted: PBC Website Administrator
I have been involved with PBC’s website since 2012, and I have enjoyed having a part in being a conduit to the public and our members. I have been primarily involved with the updates, look, and feel of the site. Other web committee members are Mark Hartel and Alan Coppola. Mark handles much of the backend and structure of the site, especially as it pertains to rider mileage and the ride calendar. Alan helps troubleshoot issues that come up. The club also uses the services of a developer, Jeremy Ross, from Volume 11. Jeremy handles the backups and plugin updates as needed and is contracted to give us up to an hour of work each month.
Following my recent bike accident, I’ve decided to take a hiatus from biking. No Come Back Award for this girl! I will continue as Board secretary until the end of 2025, but I will gradually end my volunteer responsibilities with the club. I’m not making this decision easily. I’ve been a member for 20 years and you all are like family to me – many good memories!
Here is the official job description from PBC’s Constitution and Bylaws: ✎
“Oversee and maintain The Club’s website, including but not limited to, ensuring that the web servers, hardware, and software are operating correctly; designing the website; generating and revising web pages; replying to user comments; examining traffic through the site; and providing periodic reports to The Board.”
The portion of this description that you would be filling pertains to designing, making new and revising old web pages, replying to inquiries via our contact form, and making reports to the board, along with Mark and Alan.
The site uses WordPress and has several plugins. I’m willing to help train the interested person, but it will help if that person has some experience updating web pages or some HTML experience. I would also be available well into the future for questions and help.
Please let me know if this is something that interests you. It is an appointed position, so please copy President Ann Morrow on your email. Ann: [email protected]. Cindy: [email protected]. Or text me at 503-781-1822.
