The Great Climb -Portland Bicycling Club

The Great Climb

Hi there, I have created a new charity fundraiser this year called The Great Climb that involves a bike ride from Portland to Timberline Lodge on Sunday, June 13. It is small this year (hoping to grow in the future), but I am interested in recruiting a few more participants and in increasing awareness/donations if possible.

We will be riding from the Willamette River, near the Hawthorne Bridge, to Timberline Lodge. Our route will connect with the Springwater Corridor Trail, then take us east around Sandy and then up the ridge to Marmot until we connect with Barlow Road which runs east of Highway 26 around Welches. We reconnect with Highway 26 via Lolo Pass and then will take 26 all the way up to Timberline.    From there, two of us will be using alpine touring skis to climb up to Illumination Rock, completing a 10,000+ foot climb, but I would love to have some company for just the ride portion. Of course, I am also happy to have donations as well to support our charities:  Mt Hood Kiwanis Camp and the American Cancer Society. Suggested donations: $25 for the raffle, $50 to participate in the ride. For more information, contact me 503-806-5209 or [email protected]; also, see the event on Facebook.
