Last Hurrah for STP Volunteers
Last call for volunteers for our sole signature fundraiser held over the July 13-14 weekend: setting up, running, and taking down the finish line at Holladay Park in Portland.
Volunteers for STP will receive a colorful T-shirt to identify them as a volunteer and a food voucher to redeem at one of the many food vendors on the day of the event. The pre-event pizza party is at Flying Pie Pizzeria, 7804 SE Stark Street in Portland on Monday, July 8, from 6:00-7:45 PM. Meet your team leaders and get your volunteer T-shirt early, while enjoying free pizza, salad, and a soft drink.
There are eight open positions as of the July QR publishing deadline:
- Bike Loading has one open slot at the Saturday 5:00-9:00 PM shift and one on the Sunday 3:30-7:30 PM shift. Help supervise the many enthusiastic high school kids. Your team leader for both days is Chip Kyle.
- Route Safety volunteers work the finish line area. There are two open slots on the Saturday 6:00-9:00 PM shift and four openings on the Sunday 2:30-7:00 PM shift. Team leader for Saturday is Dave Ek, and Tom Carter leads on Sunday.
All volunteers report to the Volunteer Booth located on the west side of Holladay Park, just east of NE 11th Avenue, prior to your work shift to pick up your meal voucher(s), name tag, and other supplies (e.g., safety vest for route safety volunteers, T-shirt if you haven’t already done so at Monday’s pizza party). If your shift is at the end of the day, come in at least half an hour earlier to allow time to use your meal voucher. Secured bike parking is available at the Bike Corral (bring your lock). Vehicular parking is plentiful at the Lloyd Center parking lots.
