Board Position Announcements -Portland Bicycling Club

Board Position Announcements

As we enter into the second half of the year, we have some changes to the club’s executive board:

Joan Cullen, after many years on the board, has decided to retire from her position as recording secretary. She has devoted many hours to our club and has been the recipient of many club awards. She is a three-time recipient of the President’s Choice Award (1996, 1999, 2018), two-time recipient of the Jim Mooney Member of the Year (1991, 2001), Volunteer of the Year (2000, 2006), and Valued Member of the Year (2009). To her credit as a safe rider, she has never been the recipient of the Comeback Award! Joan has been consistent in her devotion to the club. She is well liked and respected by all who know her. She has been a treasure to have on the board, as her knowledge of the club’s history has been invaluable. Joan, all the members of the board and I will miss you at our meetings! Everyone is encouraged to yell out a huge thank you to her the next time you see her on a ride.

Eric Hendricks‘s second term as a July 1 to June 30 member at large has come to an end, and he has decided not to pursue a third. His many years of experience as a Portland police officer gave the board a unique perspective in discussions of road safety, and his opinions regarding all matters before the board were also invaluable. Give him a hearty thank you the next time you see him on a ride!

Let’s welcome back Ann Morrow, who was elected as recording secretary for the remainder of Joan’s term. Ann Morrow is well known as a volunteer, award recipient, past board member, and as a ride leader, most recently for numerous Welcome Rides. Ann, thank you for your commitment to the club!

In Eric’s place, we welcome Dave McQuery as the new member at large. He is a familiar face as a ride leader, most recently the Jim O’Horo Memorial Columbia Gorge Explorer. Welcome to the board!

Road Captain Rob Schroeder and Member at Large Stacy Barbadillo have decided to stay on for at least another year in their positions. For this, the board is immensely grateful! Stacy’s expertise in law has been helpful in countless ways, and Rob’s sense of humor and efficiency as road captain are never taken for granted!

The executive board is a vital part of our club. It serves to keep business moving forward. As we move closer to another round of elections to take place in December, start thinking now if you would like to be involved.
