PLEA for STP Volunteers!!
Seattle to Portland (STP), the Pacific Northwest’s largest multi-day bicycling event, is returning after a two-year hiatus, scheduled over the weekend of July 16-17.
Our club sets up and takes down the finish-line chute at Holladay Park. PBC welcomes all finishers to Portland with our volunteer announcers cheering them on. We make sure riders safely cross the finish line and enjoy the finish-line festivities.
We install and remove all course signage from the Longview Bridge to the finish line. We restrict traffic around Holladay Park and place all the required signs warning the public of these closures. ✎
We unload and sort riders’ baggage, help them find and retrieve their proper belongings. We staff the temporary secure bike corral, help load riders on buses, and get their bikes safely blanketed on trucks for the return trip to Seattle.
We answer all sorts of questions at the Information Booth. If there is something to be done, you can bet a PBC or Skyview high school volunteer is tending to it.
Volunteers for STP will receive a colorful T-shirt to identify them as a volunteer and a food voucher to redeem at one of the many food vendors.
NEW THIS YEAR: Come to the club member meeting Thursday, July 7, 7:00-8:30 PM for volunteer T-shirt early pickup, or you can get your volunteer T-shirt at the volunteer booth on event day.
Volunteering is easy. Look for an open slot on SignUpGenius and reserve your spot for the position, day and time of your choice. You may sign up for multiple time slots and can change your selection at a later date.
