Earl Blumenauer Bridge Celebration Ride

Sunday, July 31, is the long-awaited opening celebration of the Blumenauer Bridge connecting the Lloyd District and Central Eastside across I-84 at NE Seventh Avenue.

There is a lot of history and significance, so let’s ride!

I will have a club ride from Wilshire Park on Sunday morning, July 31, that will (hopefully) get us to the celebration at about 11:30 AM. My plan is to ride around Portland a bit first and see the Greeley multi-use path, the new(ish) Ned Flanders Crossing Bike and Pedestrian Bridge, and ride across, under and around many of the Portland bridges just because we can.    The route back will be Williams to Going, and most likely the group will have disbanded as we all will have found various goings-on that we want to check out. The route at this point – planned but not tested – is 31 miles.

Watch our ride calendar for details about the Bridgetown Tour (this needn’t be the only time we offer this ride!).

Wear your club colors as this event will draw many groups riding in to the celebration.
