Awards Banquet: Best Night of the Year!

Don’t miss what many refer to as the best night of the year: Portland Bicycling Club’s very own AWARDS BANQUET on Thursday, February 5, at the Hilton Garden Inn Clackamas, 12566 SE 93rd Avenue, Clackamas, OR 97015 (formerly known as the Monarch Hilton where we have had the banquet many times). It’s near Clackamas Town Center. This is not some fuddy-duddy snoozefest of an awards banquet. The evening will be long on fun and short on speeches. And what speeches you will hear will help you get to know your fellow club members better.

This is an event for all members and their guests. Come by yourself or bring your significant other (even if they don’t ride a bike) or a friend or bring a group. You will all enjoy the meal and entertaining presentations.

Socializing and a no-host bar will start off the evening at 5:00 PM. Then dinner will be served, buffet style, at 6:00 PM, featuring tasty salmon and steak options. A vegetarian option will be available but must be requested in advance, when registering. Often the tables become filled with friends and lesser-known members alike, so it proves to be an excellent opportunity to chat during the meal and learn a little more about someone.

The ambience is casual. You can dress up if you enjoy doing so or wear your most comfortable Northwest outfit. Come and see if you can recognize your riding friends in their street clothes! Or will they know you? Helmets are optional.

The evening will be dedicated to the celebration of outstanding PBC members who have provided service to the club above and beyond the norm and whose efforts have contributed greatly to our riding enjoyment in 2025. Volunteers will be honored. Ride leaders will be acknowledged. For those who strive for mileage, recognition will be given for 500 miles, 2,000 miles, and every increment of 1,000 above that.

Registration is required, so please purchase your tickets in advance. Go to PBC Awards Banquet. Yes, you will need to pay, but where else can you partake of a professionally prepared meal for $30? The club will still be subsidizing a portion of the evening, which is why the price remains low. Again, the bar will be no-host. Yes, there will be dessert. I know that is an essential component to a fun evening for some of you. You have until Thursday, January 29, 12:00 NOON, to sign up for the banquet. After that, the window for registration will close. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Don’t’ procrastinate and find yourself calling and emailing other club members on the day of the event begging for entry. It’s unpleasant and embarrassing.

The annual awards banquet is an occasion which tends to be the talk of the club afterward. Don’t have regrets. Join us for a fun evening!

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday, February 5!
