STP Finish Line Coordinator Needed

The Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic will be the weekend of July 12-13, 2025, and Portland Bicycling Club will once again join with Cascade Bicycle Club of Seattle to manage the Finish Line in Portland for an anticipated 6,000 cyclists.

We are urgently looking for a Finish Line Coordinator. Eric Hendricks has been the STP event coordinator for the last three years but will be riding the STP in 2025. This is the most important leadership role. This position could be filled by an individual or a couple but needs to be filled as soon as possible as contract negotiations with Cascade Bicycle Club typically begin in January.

Are you a people person? Major tasks will be communicating outside the club with Cascade Bicycle Club personnel, the Portland Bureau of Transportation, the Portland Bureau of Parks, the DoubleTree Hotel convention services, and Skyview High School Coach volunteers as well as inside the club with the executive board, volunteer coordinator, and the transportation team leaders.

Being a good problem-solver is another quality that would be a good fit for this lead role. From the bike corral where riders park their bikes temporarily after crossing the finish line, to baggage where they pick up their belongings, to return transportation where they load their bikes on the truck and board the bus to go back to Seattle, if there are any issues, can you remain calm and find a solution?

It helps to be comfortable with numbers too. Some thought needs to be given to how an expense may impact our profit.

You will be happy to know that almost all the team leader positions have been filled already, and a strong leadership team will be supporting you. See table below.

Eric is willing to help you in any way he can with all the preparations, beginning in January leading up to July. He has a written list with names, phone numbers, tasks, deadlines, and step-by-step instructions. Call Eric at 503-803-7926 or email [email protected] for more information about this opportunity, or with any questions or concerns, no matter how small. The only silly question is the one that isn’t asked!
