Volunteer Coordinator Needed! -Portland Bicycling Club

Volunteer Coordinator Needed!

We are extremely fortunate to have been so highly successful for a 51-year-old, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the heart of a large cycling community in PDX. Be proud! After two years of being out of commission due to the pandemic, all your hard work volunteering has finally resulted in our club being able to donate back to the community from 2022 Pioneer and STP to deserving members of our cycling community. What makes us so successful anyway? YOU! Yes, PBC members! The amazing talent of many members volunteering throughout the years makes our club successful.

Our treasurer, Corey Eng, has taken great care as the PBC Volunteer Coordinator for our all-important, annual fundraising events for years now. Corey wears numerous hats for our awesome club: treasurer, ride leader, Pioneer Century® volunteer coordinator, STP volunteer coordinator, awards committee chair, trademark registrar, and liaison procuring PBC anniversary jersey, just to name a few. Having had the pleasure of serving with Corey on the PBC board over the last couple of years, I’m certain the time Corey volunteers for PBC equates to many, many hours. I heard an old saying that goes something like this, “10 percent of the people do 90 percent of the work.” Here’s a link to a poem illustrating this concept on YouTube: The Ten Percent by Baxter Black (2:28); see text below. These numbers, if they are true, are horrible. We’re better than that, folks! Duh.

Sure, as always, one typically holds down multiple roles volunteering in any organization. Please, kindly consider volunteering for Portland Bicycling Club Volunteer Coordinator for 2023.

We have two main events, PIONEER CENTURY® and STP. Pick one, or take both! We can have two volunteer coordinators to support our two major events. Either way, please consider stepping up and getting solid training from Corey Eng ASAP! Corey will ensure his successive PBC volunteer coordinator in 2023 will feel 100% confident using Sign-up Genius, determining roles that need to be filled, timelines, and deadlines. Corey is impressive to work with and has it figured out. No need to reinvent the wheel. Reach out to Corey directly at [email protected] or call 503-641-2971.

In short, all much-valued PBC members, it is someone else’s turn to take on the essential leadership role as the PBC Volunteer Coordinator 2023.
