Reach the Beach Team News
This year’s Reach the Beach on Saturday, May 16, features four scenic routes: 24, 43, 77, and 100 miles. There is a new start for the 100-mile route at Scappoose High School, in order to avoid Highway 30, and an improved end at Fort Stevens for all routes, ensuring a smooth ride to the finish celebration.
I am planning to ride the 77-mile route. That presented enough of a challenge for me last year! The reasons that I keep riding include the camaraderie, scenery, and the well-stocked rest stops. ✎
The ride benefits the American Lung Association and has a registration fee of $65 with a minimum fundraising requirement of $200. Stay tuned for possible early registration discounts. RTB is a non-club event but has been approved by the board for club miles. We are currently at 13 members (scroll down, click on ROSTER). I hope you join us.
To join the team, go to RTB Team Portland Bicycling Club and click on the blue button JOIN OUR TEAM to the left in the banner at the top of the page. Everyone is welcome to join us on the training rides starting in March regardless of the length of route you choose, and even if you don’t plan to ride RTB.
If you have questions, contact me at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you!
