So You Want to Be a Ride Leader

Look at yourself. Go on…take a good look. What do you see? Oh…Okay…I thought so. Well, just because you are feeling insignificant and wasting your life away by just showing up for rides and tootling along, doesn’t mean that is your destiny. You can change and make something of yourself. What you really need is to feel in control, to feel powerful, to feel like a god (or goddess, or non-binary eternal entity with power over all things, or god that identifies as a goddess, or vice versa, or…okay, I’ll stop. You get the idea). Now’s your chance to find out what it means to be a ride leader. You do not need to commit to weekly rides; you can lead occasional rides and still lord over the commoners (ordinary riders). If you are a bit of a performer, you can entertain the groundlings (same ordinary riders) since they are your captive audience. Plan to attend the Ride Leader Workshop on Thursday, January 9, 2020, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at All Saints Episcopal Church, 4033 SE Woodstock Blvd, Portland. Hey! That’s where we have the club meetings! Be amongst the elite and powerful. Soak up the strength and energy. Exciting topics will include:

  • New ride leader orientation
  • Discussion of issues and concerns
  • Ride maps – what’s working and what’s not
  • Large-ride group control
  • Ride leader involvement, particularly in non-group rides
  • Where should the rider sign-in sheet be during a ride
  • Ride cancellations and when is it appropriate

You! Yes, look at yourself again! Now you see the prospective NEW AND POWERFUL YOU! YOU are invited to this exclusive event, but please RSVP by January 3, 2020, to [email protected]. We need to know how many are attending for the pizza order.
