SnowCap Annual Donation Drive
Donations for SnowCap Community Services 501(c)(3) will be collected at our club meeting on December 4. With so many needed items on SnowCap’s wish list, we’d recommend focusing on the following (although the “elves” won’t turn down anything dropped off).
- Canned fish and poultry, chili, hearty stews and soups, canned fruits or vegetables
- Boxed dessert mixes (e.g., Jello, cake and frosting, brownie or cookie mixes)
- Egg cartons, empty (one-dozen size, not 18, for redistribution of larger quantities)
- Grocery-sized paper bags or clean reusable cloth-type bags
- Gently used coats – all sizes and types
- New socks – men’s and children’s sizes
- Hats, gloves, scarves
- Oregon return-for-deposit cans or bottles – rinsed and clean please! (keeping glass bottles separate from cans/plastic bottles makes handling easier)
- Monetary tax-deductible donations – checks made out to SnowCap ✎
While SnowCap’s wish list has grown longer and longer, these are the easiest for our “elves” to handle. Our “elf” crew can get a bit over-enthusiastic during the collection process, so please give them a heads up if your donation includes glass containers. It would be a shame if a glass container was broken during the handoff. (And, yes, one can hose down the inside of the Honda Element; however, we’d rather not attempt it in December.) Look for the Element curbside as you enter the building.
Like many other food pantries, SnowCap was flooded with new clients when SNAP aid was frozen. Many food pantries have stepped up their collection and distribution efforts, and we as part of the community, have a chance through our donations to help those families have a happier holiday season.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in December for the elections, potluck desserts, and swap meet. Happy Holidays to All!
