PBC December Election

The December 4 club meeting will include the election of the 2026 executive board. Nominations are still open, so please continue to send your nominations – for yourself or for someone else – to Eric Hendricks, Nominations Committee Chair, at [email protected], or call 503-803-7926; or write to President Ann Morrow at [email protected], or call 360-608-3173. The sooner, the better; and nominations will be accepted from the floor on election night.

Serving on the board is a great way to get involved with the club and to help steer the ship, or bike as the case may be. You will get a better perspective of how the club operates, get to know many more club members, and come to appreciate some of the behind-the-scenes activity that moves the club along.

There are eight positions included in the December election:

Three positions will be filled at the mid-year election for the July-to-June term for the member-at-large seats held by Bob Glascock and Ron Stein, and the road captain slot held by Rob Schroeder. This strategy prevents an entirely new board from stepping in on January 1; there will be at least three experienced board members still remaining.

Most board position job descriptions are self-explanatory by the title. If you have a question about job duties, ask a current board member and/or read up here: Meet Your Executive Board Officers

Some current board members have expressed a desire to run for re-election, and some will not be running again. However, an incumbent can always be challenged.

We definitely need a recording secretary. Cindy Bernert-Coppola joined us to fill the need earlier this year and has done a wonderful job. So far, there is no one running for this important role.

Our vice president, Michelle Kirsch, is a busy woman and to lighten her load a bit, she will not be running again. Steve Price has accepted a nomination for vice president.

As president, I too am going to step away from the board and devote my PBC time to tie up loose ends I still have pending. I will make myself available to my replacement and if that happens to be you, I will help you get started, if need be. I have notes and agenda templates to give you some confidence. As noted below, this is a board, a team of 11 members. It doesn’t all fall on the president. You will have exceptional people to support you. This position is wide open.

Finally, our road captain for the January-to-December term, Todd McCollum, will also not be running for re-election. Joel Loh is currently running unopposed for road captain.

We have a good, solid board and they are serving the club well. New ideas, fresh approaches, and higher energy levels are always appreciated when new members join the team. Discussions are civil and respectful as information is shared and decisions are made. It’s a group effort.

Being a board member will not be burdensome. As a bonus, the board determined that using Zoom for the monthly board meetings was the way to go, and so you don’t even need to leave home on the third Wednesday of each month. You can do this! Please demonstrate your belief in PBC by taking on a board position.

Remember to come to the December club member meeting to nominate yourself and/or someone else, to accept nominations, and to cast your votes. The list of candidates to date is:
