You Are Invited: PBC Awards Banquet

Early in the New Year PBC always puts on an AWARDS BANQUET to celebrate the past cycling year. Thursday, February 6, 2025, is BANQUET night, and we hope you will come. Even if you are new to the club, it’s the perfect opportunity to meet more people, see members in street attire instead of helmets and Lycra, and acknowledge the wonderful people in the club who have worked so hard to make it what it is.
What to wear? Whatever you want! Dress up, dress down – just come.
The evening starts with a no-host bar, and members tend to wander around greeting old friends, meeting non-riding partners and new members. Usually, there are photographs of the past year to help with some fun reminiscing.
The meal will be served dinner style again this year. The Monarch Hotel really does a good job and treats us well. ✎
As diners finish their meals, the festivities begin. You have been seeing pleas for award nominations in your Quick Releases. Prior to the banquet, the awards committee (consisting of previous Jim Mooney Member of the Year recipients) will have met and mulled over the nominations and will have chosen the winners. Awards are ordered and purchased.
Awards are given out to deserving members, and this showcases individuals and all they have done for PBC. It’s respectful, fun, and a true celebration of the good people we know and love.
There are raffle prizes given out as a perk for some lucky winners.
Some members also come up with silly awards or special appreciation awards that aren’t on the official awards list but are important all the same. The “Old Fart” award is still making the rounds, and there is usually a funny speech as that gets passed along. Feel free to honor someone you think is deserving.
Members who earned club pins for riding 500 or more club miles or mugs for riding 2000 or more club miles can pick those up at the banquet.
It’s a very fun evening and the talk of the membership afterwards. Don’t miss out.
Yes, members will have to help pay for their dinner. The club will be subsidizing the meal to help make it more affordable.
Looking forward to seeing you all on February 6, 2025!
