SnowCap Donations, Swap Meet, and Dessert Potluck – Oh, My!

If you are new to the club or an infrequent meeting attendee, December’s meeting is the one to turn out for – SnowCap collections, swap meet, and yummy dessert potluck await you! What better way to help celebrate and embrace the spirit of the holidays.

SnowCap donations will be collected at meeting time, with drop-off at SnowCap on Friday. On your way into the church, look for the elves and our Honda Element, so you don’t have to carry things down to the basement. Here’s SnowCap’s wish list:

  • Canned tuna, chili, hearty stews and soups, canned fruits or vegetables
  • Boxed dessert mixes (Jello, cake/frosting, brownie or cookie mixes), hot chocolate packets
  • Egg cartons (empty, one-dozen size used to redistribute larger quantities)
  • Large paper (or reusable) grocery-sized bags
  • Oregon return-for-deposit cans or bottles – rinsed & clean please, and keep breakables separated from non-breakables
  • Clothing: men’s, all sizes; kids’, sizes 5T-16
  • Gently used coats – men’s and kids’ sizes needed most
  • New socks – men’s and kids’ sizes
  • Hats/gloves/scarves
  • New, full-size toiletries (especially shampoo/conditioner)
  • Stocking stuffers (especially for teens!)

Monetary donations can also be collected at meeting time. Checks can be made directly to SnowCap. Include a return address if you wish a receipt for tax purposes.

SnowCap has served needy East County families since 1980. While the total number of people served then was 12,350 YEARLY, that number is now a MONTHLY count. To find out more about SnowCap, go to their website: www.snowcap.org. Here’s a link to a video describing their program: SnowCap’s Million Acts of Kindness.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the December meeting and filling up the Element again!
