Your Club at Work: Meetings

Since March of 2020, our club has not had live and in-person meetings due to COVID-19. We have resumed club bicycle rides because outdoor activities have been deemed safe. As vaccinations become more prevalent, we are attempting to resume in-person club meetings.

As this is written we do not yet have permission from All Saints Episcopal Church to gather there as we had been pre-pandemic. The hope is that we can meet again on the first Thursday of the month beginning September 2. (There is no August club meeting because we have a picnic instead. Information is contained elsewhere in the newsletter.)

Board meetings had been scheduled for just before the club meetings to reduce travel time for the board by not having to attend two separate meetings each month. What with the discovery of Zoom (!) the board meetings will move back to their traditional third week of the month separate timeframe, and board members will attend remotely. All members are welcome to attend board meetings virtually, but if you have an item for the agenda, please notify President Doug Myers ([email protected]) prior to the meeting so time will be allotted for your presentation.

We hope to see you live and in the flesh soon. Remember that attending club meetings allows you to avail yourself of our extensive club library. Additionally, there are usually presentations related to our passion for cycling. A few pre-pandemic guests included Officer Dave Sanders from the City of Portland’s Bike Theft Task Force; member Maria Sworske sharing her highlights from her cycling trip to South Africa; Kevin Schmidt from Pedal PT; Roger Geller, Bicycle Coordinator for PBOT.
