Pioneer Century®: Saturday, June 7
Yikes! It’s April already and our big event, the PIONEER CENTURY®, is coming up FAST!
Cindy Bernert-Coppola and I (Ann Morrow, I’m writing this) have everything in hand. Doug Myers and Scott Diamond had gotten the foundation laid for our event as it bobbed along like a cork in a stream without a true event coordinator. Cindy, in particular, has grabbed this event by the handlebars and is steering us toward success. We’re getting sponsors, posters, volunteers, and yes, RIDERS.
There will be last-minute craziness, but with Cindy and me as the wagonmasters (think Pioneer, Oregon Trail, Mount Hood Territory) no one will be left to die on the side of the trail. We’ve got this.
Your job, as a PBC member, is to support the event. ✎
RIDE: Bring your friends. Promote the ride to every rider you know or see. Inform yourself about the event so you share our excitement and can “sell” it to other riders with various abilities. Use social media. Let them know about our Facebook Pioneer Century® Group. Tell your spin class friends.
VOLUNTEER: As I write this there are only a few volunteer slots available. Go to SignUpGenius and see what is left.
To be sure, all volunteer positions that would allow you to volunteer AND ride have been snatched up. Lesson for you: volunteer early.
Please ride the ride if you aren’t volunteering. This is how we raise money to support ourselves. It’s a wonderful ride and a good way to meet others, and celebrate the beauty of where we live and ride here at the end of the Oregon Trail.
And don’t forget to thank your volunteers along the route!
Ann Morrow, Pioneer Event Co-Coordinator
