Membership Packets

At the Portland Bicycling Club’s Board Meeting on May 20, 2026, the Board voted to amend the Membership Packets that the Membership Secretary distributes.

In the past, the Membership Secretary has sent new members a New Member Packet that included the following printed documents via U.S. Postal Service.

In addition, the Membership Secretary sent, via e-mail, a one-page description of some of the donations we make, our need for volunteers for STP, Pioneer Century, Ride Leaders, Board positions, and other thing that make us a club. The Board voted to continue this practice.

Current members, whose memberships are about to expire, automatically receive several renewal reminders from the computer before the renewal date. The membership secretary also sends out another, personal reminder to those whose memberships have lapsed.

In addition, for renewing members, the Membership Secretary has been sending via U.S. Postal Service:

1” sticker
2 business cards

The Board voted to discontinue mailing to renewing members. Effective July 1, 2026, the Membership Secretary will e-mail members to confirm renewal and advise them to print their own membership cards by going to “My Account” on the website. Members can then print the card to paper, or save a screen shot to their phones. Presenting the membership card to Showers Pass and Bike Tires Direct have substantial discounts for members, as do some bike shops. Stickers, clings, business cards, and emergency contact cards will be available on request, or at club meetings.

NOTE: All members, whether new or renewing, receive a computer generated “New customer order” when they pay their club dues on line.
