Luck isn’t reliable.

This morning there was only one ride that wasn’t cancelled because of rain. Bad luck. But at the starting point, it wasn’t raining…it was HAILING. Worse luck. Yet the hail resolved just before the ride started and we remained completely dry. Great luck. Shortly after arriving at the finish, a torrential sleet storm and high winds set in.  Wonderful luck for those who drove to the start, but lousy luck for those who rode from home!

As hard as it is to predict the weather, it’s just as hard to predict the attendance for our club’s signature rides. But we can’t rely on luck. Both our Pioneer Century and the Columbia Gorge Explorer need to be marketed in order to be successful. If you are able to go on these rides and haven’t signed up, please do so. And tell your riding buddies to sign up as well! Remember that the price of the Pioneer goes up stepwise as June 13th approaches, so the sooner the better. The Columbia Gorge Explorer also needs more riders to break even. It’s a four-day fully loaded tour with three camping nights for the very reasonable cost of $35.

Many club members have volunteered their time to make these rides successful. Don’t let them down by missing some of the best riding that the club offers!
